At Ask A Designer Now we feel that everyone should live in a home that is beautiful and customized to their life! We love DIY design and since you’re here, we know you love it too. There is a way to combine good design and DIY design and we’re here to help you do just that.
Shortly after finishing design school in 2001, I was married and immediately became the wife of a college student. He worked hard and did well, but we did not have money to fix up and decorate our home with an “interior designer” budget. With the post 9/11 economy I couldn’t even find a job as an interior designer. I worked odd jobs and happily became the mother to two darling little girls. But my education was not a waste! (Personally, I don’t think an education is ever a waste, regardless of the degree.) I used my design education and my budgeting skills learned during my college days and we slowly restored and decorated our home. Yes, I DIY-ed my home into what I wanted to be.
I have since helped many people turn their houses into their dream homes. I have helped with finish selections (tile, paint, flooring, etc) and helped people stage their homes to help them reach their goals.
In 2015, we sold that wonderful home and built our dream home. But DIY does not stop with a new home. We are still working on making it OUR home.
Because of my experience in design and DIY, I value the expertise of a designer AND the hard work and willingness of a DIY-er. I firmly believe that both can work together harmoniously. And that is how Ask A Designer Now was born. I truly am an interior designer that is wanting to work with the DIY-er to help make our world a more beautiful place, one home at a time.
